“Art is a tryst, for in the joy of it, maker and beholder meet.” The abode of art or Nivas came up just for this to happen.
In 2005, Nivas Inc., was visualized by Vinutha Venkat and Preethi Machani. The vision was to make every living space a piece of art and a site of beauty.
Indian philosophy believes in “Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” or “The World as One”. Nivas hopes to bridge the divide between East and West, with east Indian artifacts adorning western living spaces.

Vinutha Venkat turned a passion into a springboard for NIVAS. Her love for interior decoration and Indian artwork led to a partnership with her friend and business partner Preethi Machani. Vinutha brings a wealth of knowledge in operations and retail to NIVAS. She is currently employed as the Director of Operations at Marx Layne, a public relations firm located in Farmington Hills , MI . Prior to this role, she spent 8 years as a Human Resources Director at an immigration law firm in the same area.
Vinutha attended Wayne State University , where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Outside of work Vinutha enjoys kick-boxing, reading, and traveling, and (of course) Indian artwork.

Preethi Machani's love to show case the varied culture from different parts of the country was her strong objective to start the business. The pride and passion grew stronger when she met with her partner Vinutha, who shared the same view. Preethi holds an M.S degree in Computer Science and Technology, from Roosevelt University . Presently resides at Bangalore in India . She is currently employed as the Director of Sysfore Technology Pvt. Ltd, a software technology company in India . Preethi's interests range from Wall climbing, Running Marathons to learning various dance forms of the world.
